Busy year ahead for Optentia

The Optentia Research Focus Area on the Vaal Triangle Campus of the North-West University (NWU Vaal) already has a full schedule planned for the first quarter of 2017.

Various international visitors will be hosted by Optentia within the coming months:

Prof. Marco Hessels from the University of Geneva in Switzerland will be visiting from 12 to 19 February 2017; Prof. Susanna Schwab from the University of Graz in Austria from 18 – 20 February 2017; Prof. Hans de Witte and Prof. Anja van den Broeck, both from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium and Prof. Hans Henrik Knoop from the University of Aarhus in Denmark from 8 – 22 April 2017.

The Focus Area also has a full programme of workshops and conferences planned: An eResearch workshop will take place on 27 January 2017; a Short Learning Program in Research Design will take place from 23-27 January 2017; a workshop on Statistical programming with R will take place at Optentia from 15-17 March 2017. The cost of the workshop is R10 000.00 per person.  Prof. Marco Hessels will present a workshop on meta-cognition on 17 February 2017.

Prof. Marco Hessels is among the international experts who will be visiting Optentia in the first quarter of 2017.

The emphasis that the Focus Area seems to place on international collaboration and empowerment of its members has certainly born fruit for them thus far.  As on 9 January 2017, Optentia boasts with 105 peer reviewed publications for 2016 and already 17 for 2017.  There are also a further 31 peer-reviewed chapters on the 2017 list.
