All girls deserve to feel pretty and pampered

“I feel special and pretty.” These are the words of one of the girls that were recently treated to a manicure at the Fablane Nail Salon in Vanderbijlpark.

The Department of Social Work on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark facilitated this collaboration with the Fablane Salon in a concerted effort to re-instil a feeling of femininity and pride in vulnerable girls and women.

A group of girls from a local home for girls and vulnerable women, who are also clients of various welfare organisations in the Vaal region, were spoiled with a manicure at the beautiful Vanderbijlpark salon.

Therapists Daleen Erasmus and Janine Goosen - who is also a co-owner of the salon, volunteer one Monday a month to this worthwhile and sustainable project with the sole purpose of making a girl feel special.

The salon offers five treatments per month for the social workers to allocate as they see fit. Even though the salon is closed for business on a Monday, these ladies donate their time and resources on their off-duty-days to make a difference.

The salon is situated in Piet Retief Boulevard in Vanderbijlpark where patrons can indulge in manicures and pedicures by these dedicated therapists from Tuesday to Saturday. Enquiries can be made telephonically at 073 091 0268.
