After completing his PhD, he focused on burnout, stress, coping and suicide within multicultural organisational contexts. With the changing intellectual climate in Psychology after 2000 (towards Positive Psychology), his focus broadened to include capability to work, flourishing of people, and positive organisational scholarship. He is a C1-rated researcher by the National Research Foundation. He is author/co-author of more than 220 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
