I consider myself to be an expert in the field of Consumer Behaviour. I have obtained my B.Com Degree in Chartered Marketing; B.Com (Hons) in Marketing Management and Entrepreneurship; M.Com in Marketing Management (Focussed on Consumer Behaviour); and my Ph.D in Marketing Management. In addition to my academic qualifications, I have extensive experience in the corporate sector at the management level. I was the National Marketing and Sales Manager for a prestigious fashion house in South Africa prior to commencing my Doctoral studies.

I have lectured students at both second-year and third-year levels in Consumer Behaviour for approximately seven years. I supervised four Master’s studies; co-supervised one Master’s study; I am the co-promotor of a Ph.D study in marketing. I am in the process of supervising another three Master’s studies.

I have numerous publications in national and international journals focussed on Consumer Behaviour and have presented several conference papers at the national and international levels concerning new trends in the field of Consumer Behaviour. I have authored a chapter on Consumer Misbehaviour as well as Green Consumer Behaviour.

I have made several media appearances where I was interviewed on topics concerning consumer behaviour, for example, how consumer behaviour has changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, scent marketing, as well as how changes in consumer behaviour has led to the demise of physical retail spaces and shopping centres around the world.

I am one of the first African researchers to explore Nation Branding (NB) in tourism. Nation branding [also referred to as place branding] is a niche multi-disciplinary field of study within conventional marketing management. It involves the evaluation and management, thereafter of the image, perception and positioning [awareness and reputation] of a country/place in the minds of multiple stakeholders, including tourists. To date, my research has contributed to niche areas of tourism, including how macro dimensions - such as perceptions of how a country is governed, the culture and heritage of a country, its competitive advantages, immigration regime and inherent perceptions of a country’s citizens – influence the travel behaviour of tourists [their preferences and travel intentions]. Moreover, my research focus on the COVID-19 pandemic as a contemporary dimension influencing travel behaviour has provided academics and tourism practitioners with critical insights into how crisis-induced perceived risk factors such as physical, psychological, social and financial risk have affected the psyche of tourists and constrain tourism demand. My completed research spans two inter-linked themes in tourism Nation Branding and its subsequent influence on tourists’ travel behaviour. Since 2017, I have completed three research projects and authored and co-authored over 20 published articles in local (25%) and international journals (75%).

Chris van Heerden is a professor in the School of Economics at the North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus). He lectures undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Risk Management (Finance).

Working primarily in the field of finance, he specialises in portfolio management. I believe that as researchers we are positioned to provide practitioners with enhanced tools to overcome any challenges currently faced in these industries. My research focuses on how theory can be used in practice and help practitioners in the financial sector to understand the behaviour of financial market participants and their risk profiles. With this research and my researcher partners have been collaborating with a private investment firm in South Africa to help perfect their investment client profile.

Therefore, my research is aimed at providing information to the industry that can be applied practically, by understanding the behaviour of market participants (behavioural finance) in the investment and banking industry. This area of research has also extended into the banking sector to better profile the behaviour of depositors and their behavioural finance biases. A more critical analysis has also been done on the demographic profile of bank customers relating to their banking behaviour. This will also enable banks to predict possible bank runs and minimize losses. Some of my research has also looked into how behavioural finance (herding behaviour of investors) on the stock market can lead to extreme volatility in a firms stock price and possible losses.

Over the years I have delivered more than 8 postgraduate students along with a recent PhD student. In my career, I have managed to publish more than 30 research articles in internationally recognised journals. Between 2020 and 2021 the last 2 years, I have published an average of eight articles per year in high quality, peer-reviewed journals to make my contribution to the field of banking and finance. Up to date I have an output of 17,23 in total research output.

I am a distinguished young female academic with a passion for quantitative analysis of socio-economic issues. I am energetic, persistent, self-motivated, dynamic and hard working. I have more than six years’ experience in the teaching of several modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level including Introductory macro- and microeconomics, Monetary Economics at third-year level and Monetary and Fiscal Policy at honours level. I am also involved in research supervision at honours, masters and PhD level; having graduated several masters’ students. Marius Stander is a lecturer, researcher, and management consultant specialising in assessing and optimising talented people and teams. He is an NRF-rated researcher (C2). He has been lecturing Industrial Psychology on a postgraduate level at the Potchefstroom University for CHE, North-West University (Potchefstroom & Vaal Triangle campus) as well the University of Johannesburg (4 years - previously RAU) and the University of Namibia (3 years). He has supervised more than 60 Master’s and PhD students), examined more than 130 Master’s and PhD dissertations and acted as a supervising psychologist for more than 60 Interns. He is a Life-Long Honorary member of the Society for Industrial Organisational Psychology of South Africa, a registered Industrial Psychologist (HPCSA), Mentor and Master Human Resource Practitioner (SA Board for People Practices). Over the years, he has been actively involved with SIOPSA, SABPP, IPM, PsySSA, Black Management Forum, Local and District Educational Units, various subject interest groups (HR, L&D, and Employee Relations), as well as an EXCO member of the Convocation of the NWU. He has been a Section Editor and a member of the Editorial Board with the SA Journal for Industrial Psychology. Henri Bezuidenhout is an associate professor in the School of Economics at the North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus). He has several publications to his credit in the area of international factor flows, and his research mainly focuses on foreign direct investment (FDI) in Africa.

He is the official South African and African country research partner for the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment at Columbia University in New York and is also involved with domestic stakeholders includings the South African Institute of International Affairs' Economic Diplomacy Programme, South African Provincial Investment Promotion Agencies (PIPAs) and various multinationals. As a result, he has been invited to speak at various forums on his research.

Prof Bezuidenhout is also a formal Executive Business Coach and member of the International Coaching Federation (Associate Certified Coach and Gallup Strengths Coach). He also serves as a cultural intelligence and cross cultural specialist, as a holder of both the Cultural Intelligence Centre (CQ Certified Advanced) and the Cross Culture (Cross Cultural Competency Level II) certifications. Within these areas his coaching focus is on Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs), mergers and acquisitions, negotiation and transformational leadership.
