He is an NRF-rated researcher (C2). He has been lecturing Industrial Psychology on a postgraduate level at the Potchefstroom University for CHE, North-West University (Potchefstroom &amp; Vaal Triangle campus) as well the University of Johannesburg (4 years - previously RAU) and the University of Namibia (3 years). He has supervised more than 60 Master’s and PhD students), examined more than 130 Master’s and PhD dissertations and acted as a supervising psychologist for more than 60 Interns. He is a Life-Long Honorary member of the Society for Industrial Organisational Psychology of South Africa, a registered Industrial Psychologist (HPCSA), Mentor and Master Human Resource Practitioner (SA Board for People Practices). Over the years, he has been actively involved with SIOPSA, SABPP, IPM, PsySSA, Black Management Forum, Local and District Educational Units, various subject interest groups (HR, L&amp;D, and Employee Relations), as well as an EXCO member of the Convocation of the NWU.   He has been a Section Editor and a member of the Editorial Board with the SA Journal for Industrial Psychology. He is actively involved as a reviewer for journals, conferences, NRF and an examiner for masters and doctoral students at various universities. He has presented scientific papers at various national (34+) and international conferences (33+). She is also the programme leader for Research at the School for Industrial Psychology and Human Resource Management. Academically she has completed a Doctorate degree in the field of Industrial Psychology, specialising in the work-family interface. Marissa also holds a Master of Arts, an Honours degree in Industrial Psychology, an BPsyc degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, which were obtained from the North-West University (all cum laude) at the top of her class. She is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a psychologist (category: Industrial). Marissa is also registered as a member with the Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology of South Africa (SIOPSA) and registered as a Charted HR professional – Generalist with the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP). She has been part of the SIOPSA North-West Regional Branch Committee for 5 years and served as Branch Chair for 3 years. In July 2018 Marissa was successfully elected into the role as SIOPSA President-elect.  Marissa has extensive experience within the tertiary education environment (as lecturer, researcher and community work). She has published articles (on topics such as work-family interface, conflict management and organisational culture) in various scientific journals and presented at various national and international accredited conferences. Marissa’s research interests lie within the work-family interface, flourishing, organisational well-being, toxic leadership and toxic work environments. She also has experience within private and public sectors as consultant. Her career started in the South African Police Service (SAPS) where she was responsible for the management of the well-being of police personnel in the North West Province. After 10 years in the police service, she joined the University where her subsequent teaching experience of the past 15 years includes preparing emerging industrial psychologists in Applied counselling and Trauma management in the workplace. She is a C2 rated researcher with the main focus on equipping industrial psychologists in the workplace with the counselling skills they require to address the human capital needs in South Africa. She supervised research studies of two PhD students and 33 Masters students.
