Transport Economics celebrates partnership of 12 years
The Department of Transport Economics and Logistics Management in the Faculty of Commerce and Administration recently held a dinner to celebrate and acknowledge a twelve year partnership they have constructed with the Northern Centre of Development housed at the National Department of Transport. During this occasion a new programme in Transport Engineering was also announced.
The event that was held at the Leopard Golf Club was also attended by the Campus Rector, Prof Davhana-Maselesele and the Vice Rector, Prof Lumkile Lalendle. Prof Lalendle spoke about the future of Transport Engineering and indicated that it is a critical scarce skill in South Africa, and is crucial in building a vibrant and competitive economy in South Africa.
Mrs. Hellen Mnguni, from the Department of Transport, spoke about the growth of Transport Economics. “Let’s roll up our sleeves to respond to the challenges and demands of our Transport Agenda and BBBEE charter and pave the way for young women to enter into management and develop programmes to grow and nurture female leaders”, said Mrs Mnguni.
The evening ended with a warm vote of thanks by the program co-coordinator Mrs. Karen Visser who shared her appreciation on the success of this Department and having had the chance to be part of its developme
