Short courses at NWU a first for subject advisors

The North-West University (NWU) in collaboration with the North-West Department of Education (NW DoE) embarked on the first training of its kind.

The training is specifically aimed to empower departmental subject specialists working in the greater North-West province. Subject advisors for Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Mathematics attended the short courses recently at the Potchefstroom Campus of the NWU.

The content of the courses presented were developed by Dr Susan Bester, Dr Pieter Warnich, Mr Phillip Modisakeng and Dr Schalk Raath for Social Sciences, Dr Neal Petersen and Mrs Lerina van der Westhuizen for Natural Sciences and Dr Annalie Rouxa and Prof Hercules Nieuwoudt for Mathematics. These outstanding lecturers of the NWU involved in the training specifically designed these short courses to address the gaps and needs as identified by the NW DoE.

The Office for Short Learning Programmes at the Faculty of Education Sciences, successfully co-ordinated and executed the training.

Mrs Masego Senna from the NW DoE said that the department is proud to announce that this training is the first of its kind but definitely not the last.
