NWU Vaal top achievers awarded for excellence during Autumn Graduation Ceremony

The School of Educational Sciences within the Faculty of Humanities on the Vaal Triangle Campus of the North-West University (NWU Vaal) awarded three top achievers with Awards of Excellence during the Autumn Graduation Ceremony.

The Awards of Excellence are awarded to the top achieving graduates within each subject group. The spoils went to: Louise Priscilla Bico (Intermediate and Senior Phase), Hester Amanda Potgieter (Foundation Phase) and Anne-Marie De Nysschen (Senior and Further Education and Training Phase). The awards were presented by the Campus Rector, Prof Thanyani Mariba.

Louise Priscilla Bico

Louise Priscilla Bico completed her school career at the High School Marais Viljoen in Alberton in 2009. Over the course of her four years of study towards a BEd degree, she maintained an academic average of 82%. She is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society for top achieving graduates and she is currently a teacher at Laerskool Orion.

Hester Amanda Potgieter

Hester Amanda Potgieter hails from Kempton Park and completed her school career at Jeppe College in Vereeniging. In 2012 she was awarded as the best second year student within the BEd programme and subsequently joined the Golden Key International Honour Society for top achieving graduates. During the course of her four years of study towards a BEd degree, she maintained an average of 85.2%. She is currently a Grade 1 teacher at Oospark Primary School.

Anne-Marie De Nysschen

Anne-Marie De Nysschen is born and bred in the Vaal Triangle and completed her school career in 2009 at Hoërskool Vanderbijlpark. In 2013 she was awarded as the best third year student within the BEd programme and at that stage maintained an average of 91%. Over the course of her four years of study towards a BEd degree, she maintained an average of 87% for all her modules. She is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society for top achieving graduates and is currently registered for postgraduate studies within the field of Learner Support at the Vaal Triangle Campus.
