NWU scientist receives SAMS award for research distinction

Prof Jamshid Moori, a scientist on the Mafikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU) recently received the South African Mathematical Society (SAMS) Award for Research Distinction.  Prof Moori is an A-rated scientist in Pure Mathematics. 

The award was presented to him at a gala dinner during the 58th Annual Congress of SAMS held at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, from 4-6 November 2015.

The SAMS Award for Research Distinction serves to recognise and stimulate excellence in research. It is made in recognition of important research contributions with regard to Mathematics or the applications of Mathematics in any field.

The award is presented in the form of a silver Möbius band with golden rim and appropriate inscription. This is the society’s most prestigious award recognising research excellence in South Africa.

The campus congratulates Prof Moori on receiving the 2015 SAMS award for research distinction.
