NWU research professor appointed as panel member by NRF
Prof Jamshid Moori, a senior research professor in Mathematics from the Mafikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU), has been appointed by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to serve as a panel member and convener of the Specialist Committee for Mathematical Sciences.
Prof Moori will serve as convener of the committee as well as a member of the assessment panel constituted to assist the NRF in evaluation and rating of researchers in accordance with specified evaluation and rating criteria.
His appointment is for a period of four years.
“As a researcher I am happy that I can and will be able to make a valuable contribution in my field. I am passionate about mathematics and insist on always producing quality research papers at all times," says Prof Moori.
Prof Moori is an international expert in Finite Simple Groups, Computational Group Theory, Representation Theory of Finite Groups and Applications of Finite Groups to Combinatorial Designs and Geometries. He has a B rating by the NRF and is a fellow of the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. He is also a honorary senior research fellow at the School of Mathematics at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
Prof Moori was appointed as panel member by the
