NWU contributes to national educational priorities
The North-West University's (NWU's) Mafikeng Campus in conjunction with the Southern African Association for Research in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (SAARMSTE) and the Provincial Department of Education presented a two-day seminar to address aspects of teaching and learning in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (MSTE).
The seminar took place on 5-6 October at the Mafikeng Campus and was aimed at improving performance in mathematics, natural sciences, technology and economic management sciences in the province for Grade 8 and 9 learners.
The SAARMSTE seminar is a major event for researchers and scholars across the North West Province and focuses to promote interactive research in MSTE. Emphasis were placed on aspects such as:
- Curriculum and assessment reform and evaluation
- Promising practices in teaching and learning
- Equity, access and quality
- Teacher education
- Research policy and practice
