Nursing Department students impress at the ENT seminar

On 15 September 2016 the Nursing Department on the Mafikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU) hosted an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) seminar at the campus’ Nursing building which focused on the ear nose and throat conditions and treatments.

The ENT seminar was an event organised for third-year GNSM 222 nursing students to present their findings on the conditions and treatment of the ears, nose and throat. Students presented their finding in front of nursing lectures and other nursing departments such as Mmabatho College of Nursing, School of Nursing Science and the Mafikeng Provincial Hospital.

In the course of the event Dr H Rakhudu spoke briefly on the ENT conditions and treatments and she also gave her thoughts on the way the students presented their researches and findings. Optometrist Dr Bongani Hlanzi also touched on and clarified issues regarding eye conditions and various treatments available to help with these conditions. Module Manager Ms PT Motsilenyane was left very pleased with the quality of researches the students presented and efforts the students showed during their presentations. “All in all the event was a perfect one – all thanks to the efforts of the Nursing students and all parties involved, and I would like to give thanks to Ms Moromane from Mafikeng Provincial Hospital and Ms Morobe from Mmabatho College of Nursing for availing themselves, and a special thanks to SONS (School of Nursing Science) for the support they have shown,” said Nursing Department module manager, Ms PT Motsilenyane.
