New book launched on Project Management
Professor Yvonne du Plessis, in conjunction with Pearson Publishing, launched a project management book titled Project Management: A Behavioural Perspective, at Protea book store in Pretoria. The event held on the 9th March attended by former and current colleagues, friends and family members, was a great success.
The book offers a unique approach to project management with the focus on the behavioural aspects of project management. It also gives a perspective on emotional intelligence, organizational energy, stress and conflict management and managing a project as a change process.
Prof du Plessis, the author and editor, said, “Many project managers are well trained and educated in the principles and practices of project management methodology, but not always equipped to deal with the behaviour of individual project stakeholders and the project team”.
“This work demonstrates how to identify what underlines people’s actions in order to ensure appropriate behaviour and sustainable project delivery. Even the cover art is symbolic of the multiplicity nature found in Project management”, she added.
Prof du Plessis is a professor in the Graduate School of Business and Government Leadership at the North-West University, Mafikeng Campus. Prior to that, she was an associate professor in the Department of Human Resource Management at the University of Pretoria and has more than 20 years’ practical experience in especially developmental projects. She is a BSc Hons. graduate, with an MBA and PhD in Organizational Behaviour and is an expert in organizational behaviour and human resource management, mainly applied in the context of project management.
Her interest in project management has led her to visit various international institutions to enhance her knowledge in project management and leadership.
