Leading researchers obtained first NRF gradings in their schools
The EMS faculty and two schools in particular, the Potchefstroom Business School (PBS) and the School of Accounting Sciences, obtained two NRF gradings this year. Profs Stephan van der Merwe from the PBS and Pieter Buys from Accounting Sciences are the first academics who obtained these gradings in their respective schools.
These sought-after NRF gradings are done by the National Research Foundation (NRF) on the basis of a researcher’s previous eight years’ research outputs.
Applications are submitted by the middle of February, after which one is notified of the outcome by October. Applications are usually sent out to a panel of national and international experts, who then assess an academic’s research outputs on the basis of the standard and quality thereof.
Prof Stephan van der Merwe lectures the subject Entrepreneurship on the PBS’s MBA programme and Prof Pieter Buys the subject Information Management on the Postgraduate Diploma in Management, which is presented by the PBS.
This is really a milestone. Congratulations to the two professors, but also to the school directors for their support.
