Industries stunned by NWU’s research and innovation
The fourth annual Science, Engineering, Technology, Health and Innovation Explosions (SETHI) recently took place where faculties of the North-West University (NWU) had the opportunity to showcase their research and innovation to the different industries in an entertaining manner.
According to Prof LJ Grobler, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and founder of the SETHI Explosions, their aim is to foster relationships with the industry in order to create the platform for commercialization of new products and research.
One of the guests from the private sector, Tommie Chambers, said he was pleasantly surprised by the innovation that the students came up with. “I would like to encourage the industry to be more involved in such occasions. We must support universities and thus give tertiary education in South Africa a much needed boost."
