Faculties impress during gala event

Two faculties of the North-West University’s Potchefstroom Campus again proved why they are regarded as pioneers in several fields of study. The faculties of Natural Sciences and Engineering held a spectacular “Science and Engineering Explosions” event from 25 to 28 August where their achievements and research were displayed to industries and prospective students.

The depiction was unique in the sense that it took on the form of a theatre production. According to Karlé le Roux, organiser, the theme of the evening was based on the musical Newsies and it challenged the audience, like the faculties, to think outside the box to discover its fascination.

“Representatives from approximately 50 different companies and 15 schools attended the evening. The exhibitions and demonstrations were also a big hit. It is an extremely good stage for our partners in industry and other NWU decision makers to introduce that which the faculties offer and can potentially offer.”
