Erica Eloff sings at free lunch hour concert
The well-known and well-loved South African soprano, Erica Eloff, will visit her alma mater on Thursday 29 August 2013 to perform at a lunch hour concert. Listeners can look forward to hearing the first performance of five new Afrikaans children*s songs which the local composer, Hannes Taljaard, wrote for the birth of Erica's youngest child, as well as the première of a new work for soprano and ensemble composed by the Argentine composer/conductor, Augusto Arias, who is currently a master's student in composition at the NWU. Also on the programme are light songs (The Salley Gardens, O Mistress Mine) by the British composer John Mosesson. The New Music Ensemble who recently performed to appreciative audiences in Bloemfontein under the baton of Augusto Arias, as well as staff members of the School of Music, will join Erica for this concert.
This free lunch hour concert starts at 13:15 in the Conservatory Hall on the corner of Meyer Street and Thabo Mbeki Drive and will last for about thirty minutes.
