Coachlab @ Vaal: empowering postgraduate students since 2014
The Coachlab @ Vaal Leadership and Business Skills Programme empowers postgraduate students within the fields of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) with not only business acumen but also innovative and entrepreneurial thinking.
In short: the programme focuses on bridging the gap between academia and the demands of industry.
Coachlab @ Vaal – which is situated within the bHive Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) on the Vaal Triangle Campus of the North-West University (NWU Vaal) is at present recruiting postgraduate students, within the BSc field, to take part in the next rendition of the programme. The programme entails the following aspects:
- Real-time job experience;
- coaching and mentoring;
- soft skills acquisition;
- technical training;
- workshops; and
- cross-skilling exposure with various companies within the ICT field.
According to Mr Elliot Mogosi, the Coachlab @ Vaal coordinator, the programme offers students a many of benefits, such as: unique networking opportunities within the ICT sector, increased marketability as and ICT expert, the chance to further your studies and gain industry experience at the same time and ultimately to assist you in financing your postgraduate studies.

The Coachlab @ Vaal programme was launched on 26 February 2014 at the Vaal Triangle Campus. It represents the third Coachlab programme in South Africa.
Coachlab is a postgraduate leadership programme for ICT and engineering students run from The Innovation Hub in Tswane. It is supported by prominent industry partners, government, academia and educational institutions that are all committed to establishing a diverse skills base in the ITC sector.
