Campus mourns the tragic death of yet another student

In just weeks after the tragic death of Loandrie Cilliers, a first year student at the Vaal Triangle Campus of the North-West University (NWU Vaal), the Campus is yet again mourning the tragic death of a young student.

Yanga (Yaya) Monique Tonga (20) lost her life in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, 4 April 2015. The accident took place in Mpumalanga as Yanga was on her way from a church service. She was a second year student within the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Information Technology and was studying towards a degree in Economics and Risk Management. Her funeral took place on 11 April.

A final farewell

As a member of the Thuthuka on-Campus residence, a memorial service will be held for Yanga on 15 April. Staff and students are encouraged to wear black to the service as a symbolic gesture of mourning.

The Tonga family resides in Mossel Bay. She leaves behind her mother and a sister.

The late Yanga (Yaya) Monique Tonga The on-Campus residence - Thuthuka, will be hosting a special
