Faculty of Education hosts research seminar
The Faculty of Education and Training on the Mafikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU) held a research seminar on 12 May 2016 with the theme: “An online study abroad exchange between candidates in the United States and South Africa”.
The research seminar was facilitated by presenters from the Sam Houston State University in Texas, namely Prof Benita Brooks who is a founding editor for READ, an online journal for literacy educators, Prof Nancy Votteler who is an associate professor in the department of language, literacy and special populations and Prof Debra Price, an associate dean for research and graduate programmes.
The research seminar was the result of a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the faculty and Sam Houston State University. As part of the MOU, students will be able to partake in exchange programmes particularly those studying towards a teaching qualification.
“This is a great for our students to broaden their horizons and their objective to obtain a teaching qualification as well as to learn more about the teaching methodology in school and institutions of higher education”, said one of the facilitators.
