Bachelor of Arts graduates take to the stage during NWU Vaal’s Autumn Graduation Ceremony

Just more than 330 graduates from the Faculty of Humanities on the Vaal Triangle Campus of the North-West University (NWU Vaal) took to the stage on the second day of the Autumn Graduation Ceremony.

The degrees Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Social Work (B SW), Master of Arts (MA), Master of Education (Med) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) were conferred upon graduates representing the four academic schools within the Faculty of Humanities, namely: School of Education Sciences, School of Languages, School of Basic Sciences and the School of Behavioural Sciences.

The highlight of the day was the conferral of 14 doctoral degrees – a record number for the Faculty of Humanities.  The degree Doctor of Philosophy was conferred upon the following candidates:

  • Dr. Margaretha Johanna Basson (Industrial Psychology)
  • Dr. James Frank D’Angelo (English)
  • Dr. Elmari Fouché (Industrial Psychology)
  • Dr. Martha Magrieta Heyns (Psychology)
  • Dr. Johanita Kirsten (Afrikaans and Dutch)
  • Dr. Ivonne Makue (School Counselling and Guidance)
  • Dr. Martha Maria Neethling (Learner Support)
  • Dr. Mahloko Joseph Palo (Industrial Psychology)
  • Dr. Cindy-Lorraine Rautenbach (Industrial Psychology)
  • Dr. Deborah Schäffler (Learner Support)
  • Dr. Pule Joseph Serero (Education Management)
  • Dr. Frederick Wilhelm Stander (Industrial Psychology)
  • Dr. Yolinda Steyn (Social Work)

A total of 1 441 students will graduate during the four-day graduation ceremony, consisting of nine sessions. All the sessions will be hosted at the Quest Conference Estate in Vanderbijlpark.
