Alumni Office to assist unemployed graduates

An intervention by the North-West University’s (NWU) Alumni Office will assist unemployed graduates to find jobs or become self-employed.

On 2 August 2018 the Alumni Office on the campus in Vanderbijlpark, in collaboration with the NWU’s Career Centre, will host a Career Day during which unemployed graduates can network with representatives and recruiters from various organisations and industry. The event is set to start at 09:00 at the Small Lapa and will run till 13:00.

According to Zanele Ngobese, alumni coordinator, the event forms part of a bigger drive to assist graduates in finding employment. Earlier in the year a CV writing and interview skills workshop was hosted by Dr Peet Roos, a human resources professional with 31 years of experience in the industry. His fields of expertise include recruitment, job evaluation, job description and remuneration.

Zanele explains that the university values its graduates and is therefore committed towards serving them through value-adding interventions such as the upcoming Career Day.
