CoachLab: bridging the gap between academia and industry
Do you want to be an innovative industry leader? If so, the 2018 rendition of the CoachLab Leadership and Business Skills Development Programme of the bhive Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark is just for you.
The programme entails a 12-month facilitated programme offered to postgraduate students in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector. During this time participants will receive real-time job experience, coaching and mentoring as well as cross-skills exposure within the ITC sector. You will enjoy the benefits of a diverse networking platform, increased marketability and financial support to assist you to further your postgraduate studies. In short: a once in a lifetime opportunity.
According to Elliot Mogosi, CoachLab skills development coordinator, all postgraduate students with a BSc degree in computer science, information systems or informatics are eligible for the programme.
During the course of the programme participants will work closely within the fields of block chain technology, big data analysis and artificial intelligence (AI). The aim of the programme is to instil business principles, the value of innovative thinking and an entrepreneurial ethos among participating students through mentorship by the project sponsors. In 2018 the sponsors will be: SITA, NMISA (National Metrology Institute of South Africa), and Hollard.
Elliot explains that the programme is aligned to the postgraduate programmes of the participating universities, of which the NWU is one.
